I looked at all of your latest photos of MN150 Cowpea, Minnie Shatterly Cornfield Bean, Polecat Cowpea, MN 13 Cowpea. (hope I didn't miss any, I'll re-check to make sure)
They are all looking great!

Grasshoppers started eating on my peas, so I yanked the vines and put them up to dry. Once I shell the peas, photos will follow.

Peas have been shelled and are drying down.I germinated 6 and put 4 in a flower pot to grow out. They grew ok and seemed happy enough, better than some of the other cowpeas. Those 4 plants netted me 89 good looking seeds. I trashed some of the ones that didn’t look good or the size didn’t match up with the others. I wanted to share a couple pictures. This pea seed has some unique coloration. I took some pictures in the shade and also some in the sunshine.

Will I grow these again?
Lord Willing, absolutely. I didn’t eat a single pea as my mission was to save seed. Chris gave me a good amount of seed, but my mission is to always grow and save my own seed stock. In this case, I removed 6 of his seeds from his package and then put his package in the deep freeze. My thought process being, if I somehow crossed them, I can always go back to the original seed. In a future grow out, it’s possible that I might plant half to 3/4 of those 89 seed. Just keep growing the seed stock. I like to have a half pint of pea seed to keep in the freezer if possible. At least that’s what I work towards.

That is so exciting, HMooseK, that you were able to grow 89 good looking seeds in your pot. Congratulations!

chrysanthemumThank you. I was pretty excited too. I’m almost certain they would have produced better in the soil, but I think they did ok for growing in a pot.

Good job! I've never before seen a cowpea like that one.
