This is another plant, I last grew in Las Cruces, NM, while in college. There are several varieties with purple/lavender flowers and they smell nice, too. If only they were edible.

Those look beautiful. I have a package of seeds that I bought in 2017 for fall planting in Virginia just before I found out that we’d be moving to Texas. I’ve never planted them. Mine are assorted colors if I recall correctly.

Somebody before us planted sweet peas on the northern fence line that now acts like a forest edge and they self seed every year and get just enough sunshine in the dappled shade. When the weather is just right, I get up to 40 foot of them. Usually it’s 5 to ten feet. I can’t get close to them. The wood bees are very territorial. And I suspect the bees over there are the protected variety.
Sometimes I steal a couple handfuls of the soil where they grow to inoculate the garden beds.
