Mud delay today, rain delay yesterday, wind delay before that, delivery day before that, but hopefully I will be able to start back on the Iron Curtain in a few days. This was my backup job while I waited for the weather conditions to improve, they are just about done now, so I'll start making a Lazy Susan while I wait for the garden to dry out again.
Turned these boards into:
These 6 cutting boards...

You all are too kind, Thank You. I've debated hitting the Iron Curtain area today for a workout, but with the forecast for tomorrow being not suited for anything outside, and Tuesday's schedule conflict to take my brother for a treatment, I've made a corporate decision to just continue on backup job #2, a Lazy Susan turntable...

All for the best in the long run, Teddy. A guy needs to save something back for those warmer days in February, early March, when it's too nice to be inside, but still too cold to garden.

I better do an Iron Curtain update. Christmas orders and catching up on this and that and another have slowed construction, but today I began again on the fence fabric on the east side. No pictures today, I am a slow starter, but tomorrow I should be installing some more top sections of fence fabric on the east side. I spent the day today sorting through the rolls of fence fabric to be used. I have the east side cleared out now, there was taller fence fabric rolls still in way from the installation of the bottom sections. I hauled the shorter rolls to the east side and have them all rolled out and ready to start installation tomorrow. I should have all the fabric installed by the end of this week.
The next stage of the project is to install cattle panels upright on the ends, however the actual installation of those will be after I have tilled the entire garden in February. I will have the cattle panels covered in chain link fence fabric and ready to install, then once the garden is tilled I can install them. Forty Seven days from now I plan to have Candy onion plants safely planted inside the Iron Curtain, and the deer prevention measures can be tested...

Good work, woodeye. Your “slow” start sounds quite productive to me, and it sounds like you used your time wisely in planning and preparing so that the rest of the week can go more smoothly. Will your tractor help you when it comes time to install the cattle panels, too? A cattle panel covered in fence fabric sounds awfully heavy to me? February 25th for the Candy Onions? Did I do my math right?

Thank you, chrysanthemum. Yes, I can use the tractor to raise and hold the cattle panels until I get them wired to the posts and the pipe that will run east and west. Each piece of cattle panel will end up being about 9 feet long, I will have to splice on a short piece of cattle panel to each 8 foot piece. The pipe running horizontally above them has to be at least 8 feet and 6 inches above the ground in order for my tractor roll bar to clear it. If I make swinging panels, on each side, then 2 of the cattle panels will be wired together side-by-side to form a swinging "door" on each side, with a stationary piece of cattle panel in the middle. With swinging doors on each side of both ends, the stationary panel in the center is the only one I will have to remove each fall and re-install each spring. Regardless of how it works out, I'll be using the Kubota to do the heavy lifting.
Yes, your math is correct, that is the day it will happen, weather permitting...

Back at it today, managed to get 40 feet of fence fabric attached to the top rail, will attempt to get the remaining 30 feet installed on the east side Thursday... Picture shows installation in progress, but is now complete.

That is looking great, woodeye . It’s exciting to see it coming together once again. I believe the deer think it's going okay too, there sure are a lot of deer tracks inside the walls, a lot of meandering around. They evidently are checking the structural integrity of the build, not knowing yet if the hand-me-down materials that are being used will be enough to stop them. I know something that they don't know yet though, when I get finished with this Sanford & Son miscellaneous component project, it WILL keep them out...
