heavyhitterokra, I don't currently have one of those bar magnets that have the "N" on one end and the "S" on the other. I've got a big magnet that is used to retrieving nails and screws and the like out in the yard, but it would stick to every pole regardless of where the pole is. Hmmmm, this anomaly may continue for a spell...
chrysanthemum, that might possibly be the answer to the problem, just have a East Pole and West Pole, in addition to the North pole and South Pole. Interesting...

I began the day finishing the installation of the short pieces of the top horizontal pipes. Got those installed, then moved the fence fabric out of the way that the material hauling crew had unloaded right in the way. No raises for those guys! After that I started on the top section of chainlink fence fabric. I used C-clamps to attach a 21 foot piece of heavy pipe to be used to raise the fence fabric.
Once that was attached, I rolled out about 23 feet or so of fence fabric, then wired it to the heavy pipe that is clamped to the front loader of the tractor. Raised the front loader to the desired height and moved it above the horizontal pipe, then eased the tractor forward to place the front loader against the t-post extension.
Began using strands of heavy wire for attaching the fence fabric to the horizontal pipe. (up and down the ladder I go again!) Every time I wired one onto the horizontal pipe, I removed the wire from the heavy pipe. Continued that process until the fence fabric was hanging on the horizontal pipe, then backed the tractor with the heavy installation pipe out of the way. I'm pretty sure I can get 40 feet of fence fabric done per work day, so it should take about 3 more working days to get it all installed. Depending on the weather, I should be able to have all of it installed by next week sometime. Last photo is how I left it today...

If the deer eat your vegetables next year, its not going to be because you didn’t try your best.

Wow, woodeye. I missed your post earlier. That was some pretty impressive work you got done. I’m so glad you’ve figured out how to use the tractor to help with all that heavy lifting and to be added security for you as you work on it solo. You have made amazing progress. It looks wonderful! Just don’t push yourself too hard. You’ve got months in which to finish it. If it’s not done in three working days, you’ll have more days.

The method does work pretty well. It's actually less work than drilling each post extension and then coming back and installing the top horizontal pipes, mostly because the fence fabric only requires one trip up and down the ladder, whereas the drilling and installing pipe requires 2 trips. There will be several days of just wiring everything together better.
With the possibility of storms Friday though, I'll just play it safe and work out in the shop. I've got 5 boards that I have to saw into little pieces, and then glue them back together to make 6 cutting boards, so if my power stays on tomorrow, I'll get all the sawing and planing over with, then get back out there for more fence fabric installation on Saturday unless it's too muddy for the ladder on the garden side of the fence...

This is where I come to get my daily dose of AWESOME!
What magnificent trellis potential.
Somehow, looking at that last photo makes me want to shoot some hoops, I'm not sure why?

hahaha, as cute as that is to see, macmex , I do hope mine works a bit better as a deer deterrent. With my luck I'll have fat squirrel partners stuck in the holes of the chainlink fence fabric like that, skinny squirrels might be able to squeeze through. But if that happens, it's still the lesser of 2 garden terrorists I suppose...
heavyhitterokra , yes, right now our off season will have basketball, horseshoes, croquet, and badminton. When I was in the 7th grade, we had a basketball game at a school by the name of "White Rock", it was a small school and only had classes through the 8th grade. Their gymnasium matched their small profile well, it was so small that the ends of the court ran all the way to the wall. The ball was out of bounds if it hit the wall. During the game, the fans that sat on the far side couldn't get from their side of the court to the refreshment stand or the restroom. They had to wait until there was a timeout during the game, or halftime to go get a coke and some popcorn...
OH, by the way, we won the game. Yay!

Weather conditions didn't allow any work on the Iron Curtain today, but I don't want you all to think I'm just laying around all day. So I spent 2 hours and 52 minutes today cutting these nice walnut and maple boards into little pieces, and have them ready to glue up for 6 cutting boards. Now I'm just laying around the rest of the day watching the temperature drop, and if the weather settles by tomorrow, construction will begin at the garden once again...
Glued & planed with the thickness planer
Oiled and ready for final steps. Rained, so have to work on more backup jobs in the shop.

George,
That deer photo was hilarious!
Woodeye, I'm glad you had another project on the back burner to shift gears and still keep busy. It makes for a long day if a guy runs out of projects. I shelled okra today for about as long as you cut your wood into tiny pieces. Then, the rain started blowing in sideways under the porch and ran me off. It was too dark to see well enough to continue working inside, so I took an early retirement. Hopefully, the rain will pass and I'll be back at it again tomorrow. I don't like long afternoons with no projects lined out to pass the time.

I think my backup project will be in full force tomorrow, and probably Sunday and Monday. I just looked and I got much more rain than I anticipated. A few hours ago my backyard was flooded, so I know the garden is going to be too muddy for awhile. But it requires a few days to complete the cutting boards, so not a problem.
You know what, one of those deer in the picture does look a lot like Stanley...

Oh, my. A flooded backyard? I’m going to have to go visit the iweathernet.com site to see what’s coming down in various places.
Your cutting boards are already looking great. That sure was a lot of cutting.

That looks a lot like something Stanley would do. She's a determined little creature that's for sure.

The ground was perfect today for the ladder to settle into the soil without sinking over 1/2 inch, so back to work I went. Got 2 more top sections of fence fabric up in the air, ♬♬just a swingin'♬♬
