It's been a few years. But I was impressed with I read this. Just today, I came across a printed copy and thought I'd try to find it on the web again. This is a manual which has a unique perspective on grassroots potato breeding, especially for what the author terms: "horizontal resistance." Horizontal resistance simply means that the plant has resistance to disease based upon a combination of genetic traits, rather than just one gene. It's harder to obtain. But according to the author, this resistance is a lot more dependable. Surely these concepts could be applied to other crops as well! sharebooks.com/system/files/Potato-Breeders-Manual.pdf
