My original seeds came from Double Helix here is their catalog description. This is our “adapted” variety we grow. Some might call it a “landrace”. We have been growing and selecting the strongest and most heat tolerant seedlings for several years and this is the result. This Kale is a beauty. Slow to bolt and has amazing color. Grows into a monster. Quite tasty in soup too. Most beautiful kale I've grown. I bought it for it's expected heat tolerance, but it made it through a mild winter we had. I never got many seeds from it, and they're now gone. Photo taken in January 2016.

Wow! amyinowasso, I zoomed in on that photo. That plant has magnificent color! That would make quite an exceptional bedded plant for close-to-the-house winter enjoyment.

Double Helix makes in my top 5 seed companies list, if I were to think about my favorites in that way.

George, last time I went to double Helix you couldn't order, the owner had been sick. The catalog is still there, but there's no way to purchase anything. Ron this was a gorgeous plant. In morning dew it fairly glowed. I have got seeds for a few different purple Kales but haven't found a match yet.
