How you all been? I wanna find out how I grow my corn for livestock and wildlife such as migrating songbirds that are all heading south in the fall. I got Cherokee eagle and gourd seed. Could we use some Native American dent or field corn for birdseed and animal feed instead of regular seeds from the hardware or garden store? You all heard of corn habitats before? I want my gardens be friendly for all creatures including squirrels and songbirds. How I create corn hedges to help shelter birds and other creatures? And how I use corn in my chicken gardens? If any of you have anything, please let me know. Out!

Yes, those corns would work well. Additionally, growing more of them increases the strength of your gene pool for preservation purposes. Trust you are doing well, Blake!

I use cracked corn as an all-around feed for my geese, for my chickens, and for my wife's pet, 2-year-old deer. The cardinals and squirrels raid my feeders constantly. I think a corn habitat would be a prime project to aid in enjoying, viewing, and providing for wildlife.
I've planted field corn on 'checked' 9" inch centers in a big field, attempting to grow corn for my horse, my hogs, and my chickens. There were probably 3,000 plants. They did pretty good until a July thunderstorm swirled them into a huge, tangled, mass of stalks. By then, they were already heavy with corn, but the ticks and chiggers out there were unbearable, so I left them in the field for the wildlife. It was a nice place to go that winter to enjoy watching so many critters feeding on it, but I never tried it again after that because I was too busy with other projects.
