The Grey Eyed Greasy didn’t want to climb, so I moved Big Boy peas closer to the string. I don’t remember where I got my start of these, but I’ve never seen them happier. It’s a great year for them!

Ok. This is something. I remember growing big boy a couple of times. This seed is some I saved back in 2010 I think. It’s been a little while so memory might not be exact, but I’m close. The other times I grew this pea, I don’t remember it ever trying to climb, but I never provided anything for it to climb, so maybe that’s why. This joker is on its way up! Woo Hoo!

So far, I have saved 228 seeds. However, only about 2/3 of them are nice and big. I only keep the biggest peas for replanting. Big Boys are roughly twice the size of regular blackeyes. I don’t know if it makes a difference, but that’s what I do.

I looked today and I’ll be darned if there aren’t a bunch of small ones that I’ll let grow. I was planning on yanking them, but the plant is pretty and making peas, so I’ll let grow till it quits.
