Hello folks. I wanna find out more of the historic relationship between the blood peach and the Cherokee and how long did it impact indigenous orchards in the country. I'm considering one this year or in the future after I removed my previous peach tree from my aunt cause it might take up to much room in my native plant garden and shade. I'd like more documentation of the historic peach tree that has been brought by the Spainards in the 1600s. I wanna grow one to honor my late grandma and late aunt who died more than a few years ago. Thanks!

I've seen those before but didn't know their history. I'll have to pay more attention. We have so many wild cling peaches around here that I don't remember where I saw that red-stained fruit.

I'd like some seeds of those to grow my own seedlings to create an orchard next year.

I'll keep my eye out for one this summer. This is the first year in quite a while that we've had fruit set, due to late frosts. However, the last time we had any fruit at all, it rained for so many weeks afterward that fungus destroyed all of the peaches, that condition persisted for several seasons, bringing the fungus back to life season after season, so it has been a number of years since we've had peaches of any kind here.
