My name is Brent. Was invited by Ron. Thank you. I am a vegetable breeder, hobby type I guess. Well, it started as a hobby and has turned into nearly an obsession. My work includes breeding tomato, squash, pepper, eggplant, melon, watermelon, cucumber, and okra.
My finished OP work:
Madison's Cross: Yellow summer squash that's squash bug resistant.
California Bryan: A yellow to red 1/2 jalapeno scoville heat Santa Fe type.
Razorback: Multicolor okra
Namesake Cherry Brent: Red cherry tomato (parthenocarpic/seedless).
Katie-Anne: Pink saladette/cocktail tomato (parthenocarpic/seedless).
Madison: Pink multiflor cherry tomato (parthenocarpic/seedless).
Donovan: Red slicer tomato (parthenocarpic/seedless).
Dorothy: Red beefsteak tomato (parthenocarpic/seedless).
Bryan: Dark slicer (parthenocarpic/seedless).
Succeed: Dark slicer tomato.
My works in progress:
Royal Purple: Eggplant at F4
Yellow Christmas Ball: yellow with white stripes pool ball sized viner at F5.
Green Christmas Ball: same as above, but green at F5.
Moon Melon: Canary/Cantaloupe cross at F4
Cantaloupe Cream: Ambrosia/Cantaloupe cross at F4
Unnamed Watermelon: Icebox melon with small seeds.
Cucumber: Sweet Success dehybridization at F5.
Seedless Tomato: 20+ crosses of the parthenocarpic tomato genetics with dwarf, cherry, slicer, beefsteak, and paste types in various generations.
Seeded Tomato: Lacy, cocktail campari-cocktail type at F6.
Watermelon: Crosses with small seed goals.
Pepper: Several crosses in various generations.
Okra: Another cross to increase production.
Butternut: Couple potential types here with round and extended neck.
I love talking about it all, but I'm not great at participation I'd guess. I don't read everyone's comments everyday, but when I do, I enjoy some unique posts and may comment. Again, thanks for the invite.
