Hey there! I wanna find out if there are more heirloom crops from the Midwest Cherokee besides possibly that squaw corn and that supposedly Cherokee-Potawatomi bean which I've heard from a guy from Indiana. I'm also looking for stuff that's grown from pre-Columbian times by the Cherokee besides gourd. I'm considering growing a pre-Columbian garden at my urban farming program in Chicago next year to help the Native American community recapture their pre-Columbian history and culture they had centuries ago. By the way my old timey pumpkin has been excellent this year. I'll send you some pictures of my pumpkins from my community plot this year if I have a chance. Much love!

I have a memoir that I believe has a few things listed that the Pre-Columbian tribes grew here in Cherokee County, Oklahoma. I'll paste the book's reference information below. It's about 266 pages long and contains a very detailed account of excavations carried on here of six burial mounds, located near Hulbert, Oklahoma, around 1938.
Harlan Site, Ck-6, a Prehistoric Mound Center in Cherokee County, Eastern Oklahoma Author(s): Robert E. Bell
Year: 1972
Robert E. Bell wrote several memoirs of his studies on different archeological sites during that time period. His books contain a lot of good information about the Pre Columbian time period.
