Picture of stir fry I made, with garden gleanings, Friday evening, Nov. 2, 2018. I love gleaning, this time of the year. I find so much that I missed or which has made a last ditch production effort. Here it is, November 4, and I have only had a couple light, non-killing frosts. Here's something I ran across, just yesterday. I still need to finish harvesting Chile Rayado. Well, we might get snow flurries tomorrow morning. The next morning, however, temperatures here are supposed to be as low as 20 F. Warm weather crops are done for. This evening I probably made my last picking of beans. These are all Tennessee Cutshort. I ran out of day light before I could get out to the Barksdale Wax Pole beans. Tomorrow I'll just pull all the vines to dry for any seed I can get.
One thing I enjoy when I pick beans at the end of the season, especially when picking the tender podded varieties, is that I can either eat them or dry them for seed. There is no in between stage which is no good for either thing. As I pick, I anticipate next year's planting and tonight's supper!
