Hey folks,
Wishing you a great Thanksgiving! We're planning to have a local meeting of Green Country Seed Savers at 2 PM, on Sunday December 6. This time, however, we will meet at the Iguana Cafe. The Iguana Cafe, just like Napolis Italian Restaurant, is on Muskogee Avenue, but it is about a mile North of Napolis. The address is 500A N. Muskogee Ave. Here's the web address of the Iguana Cafe.

I will plan on bringing some of this year's bean seed. Anyone who would like to bring bean seed, or any other extra seed, please do! We can share. with those who are interested. Also, we would love to have you share with the group any opinions you have as to good varieties for this region. Do look at the Green Country Seed Savers website to see some of the varieties we've been discussing.

Hope the meeting went well. Was hoping to have a coffee with you as I passed through in Nov. but as it turned out not much time to do so.Should be through that part of the country again in a few months . The next time I'll plan it a bit better .Already looking forward to 2016 growing season.

Well, the meeting went well. I think we had about 8 local gardeners present. Most everyone brought some sort of seeds to share. By the way, I have never seen a shortage of seeds at one of these meetings. So, even if someone doesn't have anything to offer, that should not be reason to refrain from coming out and receiving some seeds!
Perhaps the best thing about these face to face meetings is the exchange of ideas. Sand Mueller, for instance, brought a sack of dried bitter melon vines with leaves. He explained that he is making a delicious tea from the stuff. He simply takes a pair of scissors and cuts a chunk to steep in his pot! He also shared that when bitter melons ripen and turn red, that the gel around the seeds is sweet. One can cut them open and enjoy a SWEET treat! This kind of information is wonderful!
I also learned that Napolis Italian Restaurant is NOT shut down, as I had supposed. It's simply closed on Monday. I originally went there, to reserve their meeting room... on a Monday. I'm so glad. Napolis is a very fine restaurant. Whenever we meet there I order eggplant Parmesan, to go. My wife appropriates this for her lunch, the following day. She didn't like my selection from the Iguana Café, though I enjoyed it very much.
