My mom and I decided that we’d better get started on some of our cool weather crops. We had to make some room in the house, though, which is rather crowded these days with my family having moved in last summer. My mom decided she was willing to let go of an old potted jalapeño that had been struck by aphids again, so that got moved outside before some freezes. We then moved the planter with my eggplant and garlic from the plant stand in the living room to the freed up space on the unheated sun porch [it heats us nicely on sunny days but gets cold at night]. The ginger is not sure it liked the change, but it’s surviving so far. We planted cabbage, Michihili Chinese Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, various lettuces, leeks, and a couple of herbs. We put the seeds in on Monday, and some are already showing their seed leaves. We’re keeping a little translucent cover on it, but my mom and I both keep checking on them. I think we’re both happy to see some new growth.
