Good morning! How are you? I'm on the hunt for more Cherokee tan pumpkins and North Carolina candy roaster pumpkins, giant ones that are oblong all orange and green. Did my very best to find more folks who have the classic size Carolina roaster, but there was only a few so far from online. Is there anybody out there who has some Carolina candy roaster to grow in my gardens this year? And is there anybody who has some tan pumpkins. Please reach me if you need me. Take care!

S.M.A.C , Sustainable Mountain Agriculture Center, has the North Carolina Jumbo Candy Roasters. They are proud of em, getting $5.00 for 10 seeds and they don't give extra. They also don't give free seed packs with an order. Cherokee Tan Pumpkins are hard to find, Hoss carries them, they were just in stock a few days ago, but they sold out in just a coupla hours, if that says anything... If I can grow them out this year, I will gladly share seeds with a coupla forum members, if wanted.

You have to be careful aswell, for people are calling Seminole Pumpkin the Cherokee Tan's, which is incorrect. For infor on this go to Deep South homestead on youtube, he is the man that got the Cherokee tan seed from the North Carolina Cherokee Elders and spread them around. He believes there might be a tiny amount of seminole genetics in the Tan, but has proved in growing, cutting open, cooking and tasting, that they are different.

I suspect that these c. moschatas from the various tribes were part of a land race. It's great to preserve as many strains as possible.
