Looks like there's a new threat out there, and it's favors sweet potatoes. Its origins seem to be the S.E., but it's on the move. George, I don't know if you've heard about this plague, but since it's being observed in Louisiana, it's not too far away from you. Just an fyi.

Thanks for the heads up on the sweet potato nematode outbreak as near here as Louisiana. Hopefully, our much less sandy soil is a hindrance to those nematodes. From what I read, they seem to prefer much less organic matter in the soil than we have here. (Thank goodness). Fingers crossed, hope, hope.

I had heard of it but am not overly concerned. It's hitting where there are major sweet potato growers. I'm pretty sure they can prevent it's spread by only shipping "cuts" rather than the traditional "slip." A cut has no roots. It's only a cutting. These plagues spread through soil, inadvertently shipped with roots and "slips." Slips have some established roots and the possibility of carrying soil born problems.
