This is a problem reported by Diwayne Collins, of Jay, Oklahoma. I believe he didn't know how to post the photos. Anyway, I'm posting them for him. Diwayne, please do drop in and contribute in any way possible
Notice that the plants are dying from the top down. Could this be some form of virus? I'm not sure.

Thank you, George, for posting those photos for Diwayne. I know he will greatly appreciate that gesture. He's just about at his wit's end trying to figure out what is causing this problem. I believe he said it was on two of his plants, so it was not an isolated incident.
Diwayne has asked that we post these photos for him, so that anyone having this same problem might post their opinion on what causes this to happen.

Looks systemic. I’d yank that plant and check it for evidence of fusarium wilt and/or root rot. Fusarium wilt is easy to diagnose, because it colors the inside of the stalk:  |

Come to think of it, in past years I've had a similar problem with my hot peppers. Whenever one would start wilting I just yanked it. Then, I tried to plant somewhere else in the coming year. This year I haven't had any wilt but then again, I got them out very very late and lost some to the weeds.

I talked to my county agent OSU she said she didn’t think it was a virus because the 2 plants this has happened to are 15 to 20 feet apart. She told me the whole plant should have wilted not 1 part of it and another part of the plant have good okra obit with really good blooms. She said to cut the wilted part off and see if it would regenerate it’s self and put some miracle grow on it. Putting some nitrogen into the ground.
