I just planted a 6-pack of a variety called, 'Purple Emperor'. I was unsure if I should post this in flowers, or here. But since every part of the plant is edible, and delicious, I opted for here.

Two of these have now germinated.
Update: 2 Feb 2023; and now, 5 of 6.

That’s great news. I love nasturtiums, but the last time I planted them it was in unprotected pots on my front porch. I don’t know why ever think that the deer here will leave any deer-resistant plants alone. They won’t. There are just too many deer, and even if they find they don’t like the plant, they’ll still bite it to find out, pull it up, and then discard it. I may try to tuck some in the corner of the raised beds this summer since those are fenced in, and nasturtiums are really beautiful in the garden and in salads.
I’ve never seen nasturtiums in a purple color before. I’ve seen all sorts of yellows, oranges, and reds, but not pinks and purples. I hope you’ll have a way of getting us some pictures of your plants later in the season.

Well, they've been out there awhile now, planted in a 15 gallon tan fabric pot, between the garden peas and a community pot of asparagus seedlings. They are just starting to form flower buds, but I've already been nibbling on some leaves. My one purple hollyhock is growing in there, with them, for now.

This morning my plants had their first blossom on Nasturtium 'Purple Emperor'. It looks really nice, the foliage tastes just like spicy radishes, still delicious, but a little too spicy for me to eat very much of, regularly.

Nasturtiums are good in mixed salads, they add a hot, radish-like bite to milder greens, plus a very appealing color combination. A little bit goes a long way though.
That Purple Emperor that you posted above has a beautiful color. I've never seen purple Nasturtiums before. Mine always turn out yellow, red, or orange. Purple would be a really nice color to add into a tossed salad.

I enjoy nasturtiums in salad as well. It’s been so long since I’ve grown any successfully, though, that I’m not sure whether my kids really remember them from real life. They remember a Winnie-the-Pooh reference where Pooh and Piglet talk about “Mastershallums,” though.

Help. Does anyone have any tips on getting these to set seed? Perhaps hand pollination. Their are 6 different seed-grown plants, each with a slightly different flower color. There are a dozen, or more flowers open on each plant, all the time. I suppose there are no insects here abouts that are interested in these flowers. I'll get to hand pollinating a little later.
