Hi, just found some tomato posts here from Googling.....Super Cool....I was searching on Black Mauri Tomatoes.....I am also a Bon, Bonnie, Bonita. I garden mostly on a 30x60 patch of our little cow farm. We still have alpacas and under a hundred roos/hens, so there is always plenty of compost to be made. I am hopelessly lost in collecting tomatoes.....my collection just hit 500. So I know I'm in trouble. Trying to figure which to NOT grow this year. Also trying to delay starting tomatoes this spring so my little kitchen table can handle it. It's an early spring. Have 30 micros and dwarfs started (those don't count for garden space, right? Because those will be container plants......lol) Hi to all of you and if any of you love talking tomatoes varieties.....I'm all ears.....

Five hundred varieties boggles my mind! Well, yes, I have friends with that many. It's just so different than what I do. I feel stressed when I go over 20 varieties. Here's how I've settled in my seed saving:
Drilling Down
Bon, welcome aboard! We look forward to any reviews of varieties and observations you can share! Where about do you live in Ohio? My wife grew up in Worthington, near Columbus.
How many cows do you have? Do you milk? That'll keep you busy!
Now we have two Bons!

500 hundred, That is incredible! I have grown many over the years but I doubt I have grown over 50 varieties. I used to grow this little dwarf called 'Snow Fairly'. I got the original seeds from Baker Creek. The plants were about the size of a bush bean and loaded up with golf ball sized tomatoes. I used to grow them for the early crop they would yield. Currently I limit myself to about 75 plants a year. That is how many cages I have and I don't really like messing around with twine. I used to grow a bunch on the ground over hay. But the mice were getting to many to justify that method. I grow some hybrid and some heirloom. My favorite tasting are the purple heirlooms like 'Carbon' or 'Black Krim'.
