Some folks may feel intimidated by the registration process. It's necessary in order to participate in our site's discussions. Here are step by step directions for getting registered. Be sure, when you do, that you write down your user name and password for later reference.
1. Find “login or register” on home page.
2. Click on “register.”
3.This will bring you to a screen which says to enter your e-mail. This is necessary, as they will send a confirmation e-mail to that address, which you, then, have to respond to, in order to assure that a real live person is requesting membership.
4. Once you enter your e-mail and press enter you will be brought to a screen which asks for your name (I just use my first name), birthday (personally, I don’t use my real birthday), Gender, and that you provide a password. Be sure to follow the directions on your password. I believe it needs to include at least one number and at least one letter.
5. Click on “Continue.”
6. Next you are asked to supply a forum user name. The directions provided read, “This is your unique username on the forum. You can change your name others see by updating the "display name" in your forum profile. Note: usernames may only contain a-z and 0-9, and may be no longer than twenty characters.” Decide upon, and supply a user name.
7. Read the terms of service agreement and click on the little box, which indicates that you have read and agree to them.
8. Next, there will appear a box with some funny writing in it. They want you to copy it exactly by typing into the space just below the part that reads “Your Answer.” This is to prove that you are a person, and not simply a computer. Once you have done this, click on “Submit.”
9. Now you will be directed to your e-mail account, to pick up an e-mail with your activation key, necessary on this screen, to continue with registration.
10. When you pick up the registration key, you’ll notice that it is LONG and random. It is far easier to copy it with your computer cursor. Place your computer’s mouse (it’s a little I bar which moves around when you move the physical mouse) before the activation key. Press and hold down the left mouse button, while moving the mouse across, and to the end of the activation key. This will highlight the key. Once this is done you can let go of the mouse button (and mouse). Now hold down the control key, on your keyboard (sometimes labled “Ctrl.”) While holding down the control key, peck the “c” key on your keyboard. This will copy the activation code to your computer’s clipboard.
11. Now, go back to the screen where you are asked to enter the activation key. You can do this, either by returning to the previous window, or else, by clicking on the link, provided in the e-mail.
12. Now, click on the big button, just below where you put the activation key. It’s labeled “Activate.”
13. Once you have done this, you will see a notice saying: “Success Your account has been activated! You will receive a confirmation email shortly.”
14. Click on “continue.” This will bring you to the forum, where you can now participate in discussions. Be absolutely sure that you write down your user name and password so as not to forget it.
