When a person does only a little seed saving it may be possible to hold seed in used medicine bottles, etc. I remember using 35 mm film canisters. But with the handling of more seed, and especially if one mails seed, it is necessary to go over to envelopes of some sort. I've learned to cut and glue my own. But that is rather time consuming. So far, I've found two options which are really good and economical:
1) Staples sells coin envelopes. These are made of paper and have their own glue on one end, so that they can be sealed.
2) Walmart (in their arts and crafts section) sells really small plastic zip lock bags. A small bundle of these costs only about a dollar.
Either option is good. Do you use something else? Tell us about it!

I store lots of seed and I use the plastic zip lock bags. I bought a thousand small ones from a dealer on ebay and still have plenty, but they work great for me.. I then sort these out into categories and put in a large zip locks... I then use a plastic "shoe box" container from the dollor store to hold the bags and place in the freezer. I have a chest type freezer that is almost totally dedicated to storing seeds........when using plastic bags..... it's advised (if storing in plastic bags in the freezer) to get them out and let them come to room temp before opening.

We're fairly new to the seed saving game, (keep seed for personal use only) but use freezer bags tucked into fruit jars and placed in the freezer. Seed seems to keep well this way for us.
