I have been continuously offering see s through the Seedsavers Exchange for at least 40 years. I currently have 37 listings there and have had more in the past. Although I once got many request for seeds I don't get many now. The Exchange is they only place where a large number of people can list and Exchange seeds. I hope more people will some how start using it and exchanging seeds there.
I like growing a wide variety of seeds in my fairly large back yard garden. I am always looking for ways to make use of the vegetables I grow in our kitchen to feed myself and my family. One of the things I have learned to grow and use extensively is shallots. I think this is a big part of seed saving, growing new seeds and learning their value as plants that do well for you. Seed saving isn't just about keeping seeds from being lost, it is also about getting them out into gardens where they can be tried out and evaluated. Don't just grow seeds to keep them from being lost. Also, grow them to learn their value as home grow crops that you eat. Then share what you learn in your seed listings and in other ways wherever you can.

For the readers: James and I have known each other for years. I don't even recall when we first communicated. He's one of the "old timers" in the Seed Savers Exchange, an ever shrinking group. I'm thrilled we can get his input here!
Keep it up Jim!

I am impressed with the amount of activity on this forum. I probably will not be able to make time to get on here too frequently. However, I think you will see me here from time to time because I really like corresponding with other gardeners and this seems to be a very good place for doing that.
