And it is that time of the year again. The chicken show trophies have been delivered to June, I handed them over to her yesterday. June completed the Best of Show trophy and the Reserve Best of Show trophy with bells and ribbons. The dark color wood is walnut and the lighter color wood is cherry. I used the same patterns for the silhouettes that I used for last year's trophies, so that was nice. The Serama Chicken Show will be held in Norman, OK on December 2.
I look forward to going to it so I can watch the owners attempt to make their tiny chickens behave/perform for the judges.
I took the first 12 pictures below as I was making the trophies, the last picture is one that June sent me yesterday to show how they will look for the show.
I resawed walnut & cherry for the 8 silhouettes. Gluing the name plate blocks. Silhouette patterns glued on top of clear shelf liner that was applied directly to the wood, then shipping tape applied over the patterns. Name plate blocks out of the pipe clamps and have been planed. Silhouette bases have been routed and stacked. Name plate blocks all cut to size, angles cut, routed, sanded. Silhouettes ready to be cut, name plate blocks ready to be installed on bases. Reserve Best of Show trophy & Best of Show trophy ready for assembly Silhouettes cut out, but feet and log they stand on not detailed yet. Supports I made for each silhouette and for the 2 bigger trophies. Trophies assembled and oiled with Danish oil. This photo to show how I attached each silhouette and bigger trophy by drilling 3/8" hole in name plate block and then gluing everything. The Danish oil was allowed to dry for 5 days before clear coating, then the name plates and rubber feet are installed on each trophy. This picture compliments of June, this is what the winners at the show will get.

Wow, Teddy! That last photo of all the trophies together looks as pretty as Christmas morning!
Great job, and congratulations on your hard-earned free time just before Christmas. Knowing you, there is no free-time. I'll bet you have that place looking like Santa's workshop within a few days, busily working on another batch of projects.

Those do look great, Woodeye.
And, Heavyhitterokra, I bet you’re right about “Santa’s Workshop.”

Thank you, folks!
I hope the contestants like them, I'll let you know how it goes...
P.S. June says Hi. She wasn't able to have a garden at all this year, but plans to try next year...
