It’s a winner! No other pumpkins or winter squash made it. I barely had a fully mature Tromboncino to harvest and cure for seed. The other one was immature and true to my thinking, the neck was becoming soft recently.
So, tonight I sliced up the neck and caramelized its sugars in margarine over stainless steel. I added a little diced pecans for crunchy fun. By the time I was half way through eating it all, salad toppings came to mind. Wow. I ended up making a 2nd serving. SO GOOD!! And this is mature. Looking forward to summer green Trombocino.
I hope this year the weather will be a little less harsh.

You done good, FrostyTurnip!
I didn't have any that matured, I planted too late, but I had several to eat green. In my opinion, the green ones are some fine eating. I hope to have mature ones this year to try...

I planted mine in a 20 felt grow bag last year on June 30, they came up on July 4. This year I want to plant them at least one month sooner, maybe 6 weeks sooner if possible. They have definitely earned a spot inside the Iron Curtain, and I want to try one matured like you wrote about. Good info!
