Wow, I recently had occasion to use USPS to send a small assortment of seeds to my granddaughter (Jade Lynn) and her mother (Laura). Apparently Laura is an avid gardener, hopefully it will rub off on her daughter. Anyway, postage is crazy - the small padded envelope cost almost $7 to make the 7 hour drive to their place, in Menifee, CA.
On a similar note; I have a small package coming from an hours drive north of me. It left its origin on 2 Jan and is now, "out for delivery", today, 5 Jan. While I ordered two varieties of legume inoculant, one for peas/beans and another for peanuts. Both ordered at the same time and from the same place (Rochester, NY), same company. The pea/bean inoculant is, out for delivery, but the peanut inoculant is still in Rochester.

When I started selling seeds back in 2012 or so, postage for a 7" x 9" padded envelope with 100 to 300 seeds inside was $3.00 anywhere in the USA. Now, it costs me a minimum of $5.00 locally, and every State beyond Oklahoma costs $5.30 or more.
I just shipped my 570th order since January of 2020. Shipping is becoming outrageous.

I feel your pain, & I wish I could say that things will get better, but there's no way that it's going to happen. I just found out a few days ago that the flat rate game board shipping boxes that I use to ship things in have been discontinued. I can continue to use any of them that I have in stock, according to USPS. I have probably about 20 of them left, but after that I don't know what I'll have to use to ship certain items that I make in. Just because USPS doesn't offer that particular shipping box anymore doesn't mean they can't raise the price for using them. The price went up another $1.50 recently.
I've already ordered and received shipping boxes for another item I plan to make and ship later this year. It's totally different than the game board shipping boxes, but I went ahead and ordered them just in case they discontinue them before I even need them. There's no telling what the shipping cost will be for those when I use them...

Sad, but funny, here is the current itinerary of my peaut inoculant , as it appears on the USPS website => And, for some odd reason, it's in reverse order, as if it were Japanese. At least its only from the bottom - up, and not also from right to left.

The peanut seeds are doing a little better. Supposedly they are at my local post office, and were supposed to be delivered, yesterday (6 Jan), but now they are supposed to be delivered, today (7 Jan). We will see.
I did receive the pea/bean inoculant on (5 Jan). If only it were good for peanuts, too.

Yeah, it’s a shame the innoculents are not universal. I’ve used them in the past, but didn’t find them necessary. In your climate, I can imagine how important they are.

Yep, we're likely to have daytime highs in the 100'sF by the end of April, as it has been, these past few years.

I didn't know USPS discontinued the game box. I probably have 20 or so myself, but thankfully don't use them very often. Since you use Priority Mail, I thought I'd mention Pirate Ship. If you're paying retail price at the Post Office, check them out. The discounts can be really good.

Good, the peanut seed have arrived, now if only the inoculant could get out of NY, while it's still viable.

Mr. Rick, aka, rdback, I did check out the Pirate Ship website last night. I was very pleased with their rates compared to the prices I have been paying. Thanks again, I appreciate it!

Yaah, the peanut inoculant arrived. Looking at the package, does not give me a clue as to why it spent nearly a week of its existence going from one post office to another, within its state of origin (NY). It looks just like the other pkg of inoculant, which arrived on day 3, from the same origin.

I've been ordering things for home delivery for decades now and have had all sorts of situations arise, but this one stands out as the all time worst in my career, and I simply could not resist the temptation to share this picture of the Tracking History. Keep in mind that the package originated at Edmond, OK, which is roughly 22 miles from my house. Rather than drive to Sam's Club in Edmond I opted to just have it shipped to my house because there is not an extra shipping charge due to the membership that I have there. Ordered on March 17 from Sam's, in possession of FedEx on March 19 at Edmond. Delivered on March 25. Not sure of the name of the FedEx driver, but I know it was not Speedy Gonzales...🤔

We'll see if this works. I had never heard of this company before my order. We'll see if it arrives. It took a week to find the tracking info which either wasn't in the system or I was looking in the wrong places. <img src="https://i.ibb.co/XZRkzR0/Screenshot-20230327-095648-Chrome.jpg" alt="Screenshot-20230327-095648-Chrome" border="0">

I just can't get pictures to load here. It was a screen shot, the package sat for 3 days. But the thing is there is a bunch of Chinese on it. It's an international company so maybe they automatically translate? I THINK the package is coming from Canada. I also think it comes here via UPS.

I was surprised that the link worked, but here it is amyinowasso . It's supposed to arrive before 04/01/2023. That's before April Fool's Day, not sure if China has an April Fool's Day or not...🤔😇
