Well this is something I don't do every day. It was definitely a major learning experience, but I eventually got them done. Even though this is a lot of pictures, there could have been at least this many more taken of all the steps necessary to make them. However, in the event that I make them again someday, I discovered some ways to ease the process and they shouldn't take as long next time. The woods used for the boots are: Baltic Birch Plywood 1/4", Walnut 1/8", Cherry 1/8", Maple 1/8", Cherry 1/2". The woods used for the chickens are Cherry 1/4", Walnut 1/4", Cherry 3/4", Walnut 3/4". The patterns were printed and glued to clear shelf paper that covered the wood pieces.

All boot parts glued and ready for Watco Oil, then clear coat
Lumber to be used for the Chicken Trophies: Walnut bases, Cherry & Walnut Pedestals, Cherry & Walnut birds (13/16" resawed with bandsaw to make it 1/4")
Gluing Cherry & Walnut stock for the pedestals
Glued & planed pedestal pieces
Pedestals in progress
Pedestals on bases, but not glued together yet
Using a plunge router & 1/4" spiral upcut router bit to make the slots for the birds to attach to the pedestals
Pedestal slots done
Screws installed and pedestals glued to bases. 3/8" Walnut dowel used for screw hole plugs
Bird patterns glued to clear shelf liner on 1/4" Cherry & 1/4" Walnut
Birds sawed with scroll saw, sanded and ready to glue to pedestals
Birds all glued to pedestals
Each trophy has support block glued on backside of trophy
DONE! Large Boot--Champion of Show, Small Boot--Reserve Champion of Show, Walnut Birds--Champions, Cherry Birds--Reserve Champions
