I first grew the Big Beef F1's back in 1995. At the time I was living on land that was not suitable for gardens, so I had raised beds. Production was crazy good. But through the years seems like production has plummeted, at least for me. I don't know why production was so good in the mid-90's, nor do I know why it has gotten so average. I noticed that the seed companies have come out with Big Beef Plus, I think that is the name of it. I haven't grown Big Beef OP, but I thought seriously about it back about 10 years ago. Another gardener talked me out of it, said it was not good at that time. Considering how Big Beef F1 has done so poorly for me the last few times I've grown it, I think Big Beef OP is worth a try. Here's the second tray of peppers in that original photo. Lots of varieties here. I'll see if I can ID them all.
Top left basket: - Aji Panca - top: Chocolate brown pods. Mild heat. Smoky-fruity flavor. Good in salsa. - Shishito - bottom: prolific pepper. Picked green and grilled in olive oil in skillet, then salted. Excellent. Grow again.
Top right basket: - Khang Starr Lemon Starburst: Pretty pepper. Slightly sweet with a citrus flavor, then boom. Very hot.
Middle basket (L-R): - Erotica Orange: medium heat, good producer - Purple UFO: tasty ornamental type that looks like a type of flying saucer or UFO! Ripens from purple to orange to red. Nice fruity flavor, Jalapeno level heat that comes on fast but fades quickly. - Paper Lantern Habanero x: Appears to be a cross with an unknown partner. Hab heat.
Bottom basket: - Aji Strawberry Drop: Long, skinny pods. Fruity flavor combined with a hint of strawberry. The pods do have some heat.

Rick, they all look great. The top left basket fits my heat tolerance profile very well.
I've made my choices for next year: Biker Billy, Aji Panca, and Shishito.

Careful Teddy, you haven't seen them all yet, lol. I think there's some others you might enjoy as well.
I don't isolate my plants per se, but I'd be happy to send you seeds. There's always a chance there might be a cross, but in my garden it seems to happen infrequently. But, even if they do cross, it's kinda fun to see what ya get!

I agree, Khang is a good guy and enjoys sharing his knowledge about all things gardening. He has created several peppers over the years. He has released his seeds to the public, with the request that they not be sold - only shared with each other. Most folks respect his wishes, but there are a few companies out there selling them. Sad.
I received my seeds from a pepper-growing friend. Same deal as Teddy, I'd be happy to send you some seeds.

hahaha, okay, Rick. I'll wait to see the rest, before I add the word "final" to choices. That definitely sounds like a great idea, I would very much like to get some home-grown pepper seeds once I have made my final decision(s). Thank You!

@rdback, that pepper photo is gorgeous with all those colors and shapes. Some of your descriptions even make me want to try them, and then I remind myself that we’re really not super-hot pepper people here in my family. It’s those descriptions like “fruity” or “citrusy” or “hint of strawberry” that just really grab my attention. I love it when there’s more complexity of flavor than just a burst of heat.
I watched the Khang Starr video that was linked above and noted afterwards that the peppers he has named like Lemon Starrburst must be a play on his last name since he spells Lemon Starrburst and Peach Starrkist with two r’s. I just thought I’d point it out since I missed it at first, and it’s good to make sure to have the creator’s spelling accurate when saving and giving seeds. Auto-correct doesn’t like my typing it either, so I have to make a point to keep it “incorrect” to make it “correct” if that makes sense.

No, I didn't. I tried to grow it last season (2021) but lost the plants along the way (rabbit I think). It's a c.baccatum from the Andes in Bolivia. Does well in cooler weather. Probably a "medium" heat pepper, like a cayenne maybe.

And here's the last tray of peppers in that original photo (tray on the right). There's a LOT of heat in this tray.
- white bag - Paper Lantern Habanero x: Another phenotype of what appears to be a cross with an unknown partner. Habanero heat.
- blue bag - Ghostly Jalapeno, Orange: First time growing these. Gnarly looking, thin walls, good heat, prolific plant. There's heat in these pods - not ghost heat, but definitely more than jalapeno heat.
- bottom - Purple Thunder Mystery: This is a "new" pepper that originated from a deliberate cross between a Ghost pepper and a Bonda Ma Jacques pepper (not by me). It is still in the stabilization process. This is generation F5. It is considered a "Superhot".
Probably none of these are good candidates for most folks here, lol.

Matt's Wild Cherry Tomato
Here's a tomato we grow every year. Great little snacker while in the garden. It's certainly named appropriately - it grows out of control, like a wild weed. Produces marble-sized tomatoes throughout the Summer and into the late Fall. We picked literally hundreds of tomatoes off this plant. This photo was taken in mid-October. Still growing, lol. This is a single plant. It is approximately 5' tall and 8' wide. It also likes to "volunteer". Each year we have a few tomato plants pop up in the compost pile or in the garden. Most times, it's a Matt's. Great tasting little tomato!

I can't imagine having to pick from more than one plant. It would take me several years with a dozen plants per year just to equal the output on that thing. If this is not a Wow!, then there is no such thing...
