These are all outstanding, chrysanthemum. The artist did a great job! Love that clock too, if I had a slab of butternut about that size, I know I'd be trying something like that. Simply beautiful. Thanks so much for posting the pictures...

What cool Ideas!
Those are beautiful, Chrysanthemum! Thanks, for posting those!
I have an old sawtooth oak here that Bill Trammel used to hitch his wagon to on frosty mornings that he came here to plow my garden with his mules. It was a sad day when that tree died. I couldn't make myself cut it down, so I topped it at a fork and built a big bird feeder on it. That kind of helped to preserve it as something better than just another stump, but nothing like your neighbors did to immortalize the trees in those photos.
That's inspiring to say the least! I wish I had skills like that.

I’m not sure this is woodcarving, but it’s woodworking at least. I took my kids on a “field trip” to a nature center today. Along the paths there were various benches of different types. This one my kids sat on to look at the creek we had just visited, and they really enjoyed the view. When they got up and I got a better look at the bench, I snapped a quick photo because I thought that folks here might appreciate it. woodeye , hmoosek , enjoy! (Sorry it’s not the best photo.)

Thank you for the photo, chrysanthemum. It looks like a sturdy old bench and it probably has an interesting history, but I can't really discern anything from the picture that would help determine much about it. If I was to guess, I would say it's made of oak.

chrysanthemumIt sure looks sturdy enough. I could use one like that around here. I never seem to have enough places to plop myself down. Hahaha!
