Certainly is a pretty butterfly. It caused me to do some research to see what the caterpillar looked like. The caterpillar has false eyes to make it appear to be a snake instead of a caterpillar... Look at this:

God's wonders never cease to amaze me! That caterpillar that woodeye posted was incredibly imaginative.
Have you guys ever seen a Hickory Horned Devil? It's one very mean looking caterpillar, but it has no defenses except for its looks. We saw one while at the family reunion over in Hulbert, Oklahoma. That was so cool! The moth that it grows into is called a regal Walnut Moth.

Oh Wow! I've never have I seen a caterpillar like that, heavyhitterokra. If I do see one, I hope that I happen to have my track shoes on, because I want to sprint away from that thing fast. Mercy! The moth version is cute though...
