...The five gallon Walmart buckets have 0 uv resistance. I noticed my bean buckets have already started deteriorating and it’s just been a season and a half.
A couple things you might can do. 1- paint the buckets a light color. Oil-based paint is best, but you might be stuck with latex. Use a light-colored exterior paint. Or... 2 - Wrap in aluminum foil. Both ways block UV rays and extend the plastic's life a bit.

Great Idea! My wheels are spinning. If lumber ever drops back to normal that is!

Your post reminded me that I had built this for my uncle last April. It's not as fancy, it just needs 2-2x4's, 2 buckets, and numerous 3" drywall screws. It was a rush job, so it hasn't been painted yet. No patent to infringe, copy it all you want. hehehe My little brother can't walk very well at all, uses a mobility scooter, I'm building him one for next year that has wheels and he can pull with his scooter...

When I was in a wheelchair because of a stroke, back in '98 they had a little raised garden at the hospital that I could pull weeds in and tend to. I was there for about a month. That little raised bed was a life saver! It really brightened my days to be able to go out there and work on that.
That was a nice thing for you to do for your Uncle and your Brother.

Thanks heavyhitterokra, it's things like your raised bed that make all the difference in successfully recovering as well as you have.
I told my uncle that I would get him a couple of plants and bring all the potting mix & buckets along when I brought his 2 tomato plants. It was a few days later before I could get the plants at Shawnee, so in the meantime I tasked myself to build him a stand for his buckets. I only had 2-2x4's and 2 buckets, plus the drywall screws. So I tasked myself to come up with something. My Dewalt 12" sliding miter saw makes easy work for most anything. So I started sawing, and when the sawdust settled, that is what he got. It took 2 hours to design (hahaha) and build.
It was a relatively easy job, especially with a cordless impact driver. I imagine you have used an impact driver before, but I hadn't until about a year ago. It was a splurge purchase, didn't figure it would be better than a drill. Oh was I wrong! It's the only thing I use for driving screws now.
I built stands for my router table, jointer, and oscillating sander. I need to build one for my scroll saw, will do that this winter. Fun projects to build!

I have a cordless impact driver, but I've never used it for driving screws before. I just used it for removing rusty bolts from our old Jeep. I'll have to try that someday. In my mind, that would strip the screw heads, but I guess not?

In my mind, that would strip the screw heads, but I guess not? Quite the opposite actually. The driver I have is a Ryobi and I assume that all brands work the same. When I start a screw with it, it will perform about like a drill would, but once the screw encounters resistance, the driver will automatically start using the hammer/drill function. A very pleasing rat-a-tat-tat. It's like a small slow motion jack hammer. I can drive screws one handed with it easily most of the time and it does not slip out and strip the screw heads at all. Conservatively, I've driven at least 200 of the 3" drywall screws into lumber. Have not ruined even one. Trust me, you will be amazed by it once you try it...

Yes, they were new to me too until about 2 years ago. My Brother bought me one for Christmas. I use that darn thing all the time now. It sits on my dresser until I need it. I have a fancy case for it, but I use it too much to keep in a case. My wife will tell you that I use it more than a flash light. Handy Andy!
I doubt very seriously if I’ll ever use a hammer and nail again. Or at least very minimally.

Same here, moose. For phillips head or the screws that have a little square to drive, they are awesome.
I'm not thrilled with screws that require a flat blade screwdriver however. I still drive them like a nail with a claw hammer if possible...

Might be talking about two different animals here. Ron, it sounds like you're talking about the old style impact "gun", like we use to use to remove lug nuts when I worked at a gas station. I think they're talking about something like this. They are a game changer.
Of course, I might be wrong. If so.....never mind lol.

rdback Yes, that is a possibility. I got mine at Home Depot, just checked to see how much they cost now and was surprised that they are cheaper than when I bought mine. I already had batteries, so that reduces the price considerably...This one is about $49 or so now, plus tax of course...

Yep, lots to choose from out there. I just picked one randomly as an illustration for Ron.
I like ryobi tools too, but I LOVE their fishing reels! lol

I would imagine you could make a mock apple pie. I mean, I’ve heard of them making mock apple pies with saltine crackers sooooo. I’m not sure why when apples are pretty common, but….I guess you COULD if ya had to.
