Hoping that stinker was the last one, it's great that you caught him. Your squash plant looks surprisingly good considering the traumatic experience it just had. Hopefully it can recover enough to produce for you...

The squash wasn’t dead this morning, so that was a good sign. I perhaps should have shaded it during the hot afternoon, but I didn’t think of it. I didn’t check on it this evening.
There were no critters in any of my four traps this morning. I was thankful not to have to deal with that today, I’ll admit. It’s possible that there was some new digging near that poor Woods Mountain Crazy Bean plant that is having a hard time and in the bed that used to have kale and cauliflower (and still does have some, just not quite as much). I haven’t been cleaning everything up the past couple of days, though, so it may have been old, and I just didn’t remember every detail. It looked fresh, though, so I may not yet be in the clear. I’ll see how things look tomorrow.

Here's hoping. It is really rough when your garden is the only oasis in the area.

There was another little skunk in a trap today. I really hope it doesn’t have siblings and cousins that will follow its lead. I have some sugar snap peas that probably needed to go in the garden a week ago, and I think I’ll try to get them in tomorrow if I can. There may be more garden visitors, but I think that big coon was the worst of the offenders.

There was no sign of digging in the garden today and no animals in traps. Hurray! I know it might not be the end, but it was still encouraging. Also encouraging was the fact that we got a little thunderstorm tonight. It wasn’t huge, but I’m hoping that it puts some water down in the creek bottom below our property and that the animals can stay there to meet their needs.

One more critter-free day. Hurray! I’m trying not to set my hopes too high, but there were some puddles in the creek bed today according to my kids.

It has been, as far as I can tell, a digging critter free week in the garden. I took the traps out earlier tin in the week, and I haven’t seen any new holes or disturbances. It makes it a nice experience to visit the garden once again. I’m very thankful.
