Sulfur to Kill Chiggers About a week ago, I was getting eaten up with chiggers every time I went to the garden to pull weeds. After a few days of that, I broke out the big bag of sulfur in the barn and spread about 15 pounds of it along the the path to the garden, all around the chicken house, all around my yard, and all along the rows where I pull weeds. (About 3 acres).
Yesterday, and today, I pulled weeds for several hours without a single chigger bite!
I do this same thing every year in June when chiggers get bad. Every year, it kills them within 24 hours. I just go out around 6:00 am, or in the evening when the wind lays, while it's really calm, and throw sulfur in the air everywhere I walk. It works best if there is a little dew, so the sulfur sticks to the foliage.
It would probably work better to use a screen wire sifter to break up the clumps, but never do. I just bust the lumps by hand as I dip into the bag, then I toss it in the air and watch where it settles behind me as I go.
Be sure to wear a good dust mask. Sulfur will irritate your lungs. It will irritate your eyes too, so safety glasses would also be a good idea, but it works every bit as good as the expensive poison that I used to spray, and it's not poisonous to humans or pets.

I had completely forgot about how sulfur gets rid of chiggers. I used to make fun of my dad because he never got chiggers, told him it must of been his odor chasing them away.
Well those comments came back to bite me instead. As I got older I started noticing that I don't get chiggers anymore.
But anyway, glad you posted this to refresh my memory and give you nice smelling folks some chigger bite relief...
