I grew a healthy amount of the most beautiful Black Pearl hot peppers I've ever seen in my life last year. They are the size or maraschino cherries and come in two colors, bright red, or glossy black as they mature. Trouble is, they are pretty darn hot and are not much GOOD at the table, but tonight, I used them to turn fresh milk to buttermilk, by pouring a couple of tablespoons of their hot vinegar juice into a dipping bowl of fresh milk to curdle it.
THAT ENDED UP TURNING OUT GREAT, AS THE HEAT OF THE PEPPA SAUCE ADDED JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF WOW TO THE OLD DRUMBSTICK BATTER to make them extra delicious when I fried them up! I've noticed over the years, that the drumsticks of a chicken are always prized by the kids, so years ago, I began buying 5 pound bags of drumsticks instead of frying up a whole chicken. Usually drumsticks in bulk are cheaper to buy than a whole chicken, so it's a win-win situation to purchase them that way.

Hi Ron!! Awhile back Ron sent me some Black Pearl chili pepper seed. Plus Bittermelon seed. I don't know, it must have been 4 or 5 months ago that I got that seed. It took ages for me to receive it. Anyways, I planted that chili pepper seed right away in small pots. They were probably 2 liter pots. Black Pearl is a tiny plant. It was mid summer when I planted that seed here in Panama. As you may or may not know Black Pearl is a member of Capsicum Annuum family of peppers. I call them Annuum's for short. Annuum's don't do well in Panama. Especially in the rainy season. They germinated quickly and then just sat there. I thinned them out as I watched them suffer in the rain. Fungal issues were apparent. Then galling. Galling is a horrid problem that some plants suffer during the rainy season. Galling is a swollen bump on the branches and leaves-mostly on the branches. This swollen area is hard and can cause mutated growth and is otherwise really ugly. All peppers suffer this issue however, Annuum's are particularly affected by it. So the poor Black Pearls have been in really bad shape. I almost gave up on them but Bercy did not. She said give them a chance. So she pretty much took over and kept them alive. The rainy season ended in early December. About a week or 2 ago I went over the plants with a pair of scissors and cut away all the foliage infested with fungus. The plants are now producing normal foliage. The plants have grown out of the galling issues. And, now the plants are producing nice red round chili's. Some of the plants now look almost normal. Very small, ornamental purple peppers. The chili's are so full of seed that they are not really useable in the kitchen. Its the seediest pepper on the planet I think. But, wow, they sure are pretty.
