Somehow I stumbled across this Youtuber "Advoko". This guy is an interesting individual. He's created some interesting tools. This is one of them:

Hey Ron, remember this project?
Well, I was watching another one of that Youtuber Advoko's videos and thought of you. What do you think about finishing off a handle with this?
I would think it would strengthen the handle at the tang significantly.

That's amazing! I don't quite have the skill to make one of those tools but would sure love to get one and learn to use it. I am downloading the video so I can go over it again without internet.

That was a really cool tool. Thanks, for posting that! I was just trying to wire clamp a split shovelhead to a new handle a couple of days ago using a pair of long-nose pliers and side cutters. (It didn't turn out nearly as nice looking as the clamper would have done) but it's functional. I might have to build one of those someday, just for fun. That would be a nice weekend project to try to build with the boys sometime.
Here's a design more our speed. It ain't purdy, but it looks like it ought to work just fine.

Here's one that's easier yet. This seems to be a popular design. Lots of vids on this style.
