When I looked at this post this morning, all it said was "must be deer season", and no photo. So this evening I decided to come back and ask you if Stanley was missing or something. Lo and behold, the post has changed for the good. Stanley is looking fine, still has her sense of humor too...

Maybe not deer season, but it's definitely the season for deer when you open the door and Stanley walks inside, looking for a snack. It's hard to stay mad at her, even if she did nearly put me out of the gardening business earlier this year. I guess raising four kids kind of gets a person used to things like that.

It's hard to stay mad at her, even if she did nearly put me out of the gardening business earlier this year. That's very true, I've never had a deer to just barge in. My pet goat, aka Goathead, liked to do that, but he was mostly just being nosy...

Goathead may have been Stanley's cousin; sounds like they had a lot in common.

I agree, Goathead was a major pain, but I sure miss him. Just as Stanley is not scared of dogs, Goathead was not at all. I had him in a fenced yard with a German Shepherd and a Heinz 57, the dogs did not want to even get close to Goathead. Goathead was a Pygmy goat, but he was strong as an ox.
I have had countless goats in my career, but never had one that even came close to having his personality...

heavyhitterokra , This photo is for your enjoyment. If Stanley is not already accustomed to watching TV, it would most likely be in your best interest to not share this photo with her...

That photo reminds me of when my wife uses Stanley for a pillow while they are out in the woods, laying in the leaf pile. Stanley licks her on the neck, just like a dog does when it sees someone that it loves.
