This afternoon when I went out to pull plastic, it was chilly enough to need a jacket and a stocking hat. By the time I came back inside, it was warm enough to work up a sweat in a short sleeve shirt. I think I actually got a sunburn.
Because of days like this, I like this quote ...
"In the Spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours." -Mark Twain

I only found out 3 hrs ago about the nasty Nader in Mississippi. I saw some of the photos on twitter and it looked to me like an EF4 with the bark of a softwood tree having been ripped off. Indeed, 3 hrs ago they gave it a prelim. EF4 cat. I bet some photos of dead man walking come out over the next few days.
Best info is on Twitter.
Amory, Rolling Fork and Silver City, MS: Small Rural towns with mostly poor. Some in trailers, one of which got picked up and slammed back down. EMT services 30 min away. 23 dead. Storm chasers were the first responders since they were trailing it. It demolished everything including the water tower, but left behind the one emergency building. It’s path was 100 miles long.
Ryan Hall’s tribe has raised 120k already. Good job America! So glad to see it. Those homeowners don’t have insurance and no way to rebuild. My heart and prayers go out to them all.

90F, here, now. I've had to do a little extra watering, by hand. I don't have my automatic drip circuits set up, yet.

Wow! Tucson, 90° is plain old hot!
Today's high here was 55° and a little bit breezy. We had a pretty hard frost Monday morning, but none this morning, so I was hoping it might warm up a little more, but it never really did.
I spent the day laying sod and digging out the buried edges on what was left of last year's 12 rows of Plasticulture, so the extra cool day was kind of nice because I never worked up a sweat, but my ears sure were cold when I finally came back inside this evening.
I see next week is forecast to hit 80° more than once. Springtime sure brings some crazy changes.

Yesterday, forecast 81F, actually got to 95F. Today, forecast 61F, actually got to 67F. Wow, what a difference, day by day.

That 95F day has inspired me to unpack, cleanup, and set-up my countertop, purple plastic ice making machine. It has been a lifesaver when I'm constantly outside, despite the weather. It holds about 1/2 gallon at a time, and even makes ice I can use with my shaved ice machine, though I usually sweeten it with monk fruit, due to diabetes.

I transplanted a few brassies today. After about an hour, I claimed Well, blow me down! Someone needs to shut the winder! The wind gusts are bigger than my house!

It got to 80° here today with 45 mph winds. Wow! That gets annoying when you're trying to throw brush over a 6' foot fence so it can be placed in a pile to be burned later. I've been attempting to clean up the mess I made yesterday from whacking all 70 of my elderberry bushes with a chainsaw.
Last year, the elderberry patch got so weedy from not being able to mow between them that I couldn't even harvest some of them. Over the years, they had grown laterally until their branches overlapped so I couldn't fit a mower in there at all when they got loaded with berries. Because of that, the weeds got knee to hip deep. This year, hopefully, the haircut I gave them will fix that problem.
March definitely went out like a lion this year!

Yesterday I was planning to drive about 14 miles, after work, to help a friend with some goats. When I got home from work I found that we had tree limbs down all over the place, including a couple REALLY BIG ONES. Of course, with the wind gusts still going, I knew I couldn't do much on them. Some were still hanging part way in the trees and might come down. I had chores to do anyway. I pushed through chores, planning to help my friend, but by the time I could leave I thought "Wow! I'm not so sure I want to be driving in this wind." I opted to stay home and go today. Apart from brushes with a tornado I don't think we've ever experienced such high winds here.

Wow. In April in Tucson, that’s something!
We’re supposed to have our first 90’s (I think) of the year on Monday and Tuesday. I’m not expecting any more thirties.

Tucs, I’m thinking your English peas are loving it.
I heard reports of 70mph wind in Stillwater, OK. Seems the heavier winds were further N and NW. I cannot imagine.
It took out our internet in early afternoon. We have more trees to clean up, but no damage. The big ol dead elm tree is still standing. Yah’s grace!
