It has been said, "The only difference between a flower and a weed is where you plant it."
That being said, here are a few photos I took today of both flowers and flowering weeds. We've had several 'killing frosts' this season, but these plants have all stood the test of time and are all still beautiful to see. (Probably more so, given the stark Mid-Autumn surroundings). Black-eyed Susan, one of my favorite weeds! Especially when I see them hanging on to the last rays of Autumn the way these three plants have been doing. She loves me, she loves me not, she loves me! Forsythia in bloom for the third Thanksgiving in a row. My Forsythia plants are often found still blooming in December. They are always a welcome sight this time of year, even more so, when mixed with their own turning Fall foliage. This Iris bloomed in April, then bloomed again in mid-November. Awesome colors! I don't know how it managed to survive the hard freeze we had night before last? We have a wooden footbridge that had so much black-ice on it two nights ago, that I decided it would be safer to walk across the rock-strewn creek bed than to walk across the footbridge, yet this Iris was not ruined by the freeze.

Beautiful! You even managed to capture the beauty with a camera. This time of year I sometimes marvel at the beauty of something I find, only to find that a photo doesn't reflect the wonder of it. We have enjoyed a prolonged, mild fall, punctuated with some hard freezes. I think some plants handle sharp drops if the temps rise again before long.
