I don't know if Gooseberries will even grow in Oklahoma, but I planted 10 of them today. They were all bare-root plantings, and those are always pretty 'iffy' but maybe I'll get lucky, who knows?
I noticed that the soil temperature is a lot warmer about 8' inches down than it is on top right now, which is very good for the roots of my new transplants. Hopefully, the cooler than normal air temperatures will also help keep the new leaves dormant until the roots have time to become established.

I have some big gooseberry plants, nearly 6' tall. They have bloomed for me for over a decade, yet never produced a single berry. I don't know why, as I knew someone in Tahlequah who had gooseberries and got plenty.

That's encouraging news. At least they might actually grow here. I've seen them in the Northern States, but not in Oklahoma. My wife grew up in Germany and liked gooseberries as a girl, so I'm planting them for her and hoping for the best.
