My great granddad, born in 1896, used to always say, "You'll see geese flying South the first full moon of October and you'll hear frogs chirping by Valentine's Day."
Every year when that happens, it always takes me back to those days when I was a kid, listening to the things my great grandpa had to say.
Valentine's Day was 4 days ago ... The frogs have been chirping every night, like crazy, ever since! Even though it was 12-degrees on the morning of February 13th this year, it still warmed up enough on Valentine's Day to hear frogs chirping by the 15th.
Thanks, for the lifetime of great insight, Daddy Walt.

My hearing isn't what it used to be, but last night, as I wrapped up my chores, by the light of a flashlight, I stopped and enjoyed the sound of the cricket frogs. It warmed my heart to think that spring is on its way!

It will never cease to amaze me how early, and how cold, it is when frogs come out each February. It makes wonder what they eat at this time of year, or if they eat anything at all?

No Frogs here yet. I expect them soon, based on how warm it has been.
