Hello folks.
Been growing all kinds of veggies over the years, but main interests are tomatoes, peppers and beans (pole). Pole beans because I can't get down to pick bush beans anymore.
Looking forward to participating in this forum. Now its time to go exploring and reading some of your posts!

Hi RIck Welcome to the forum. What kind of beans do you like to grow?

Yes, it is really great to have you here! Seems like you and I have "rubbed shoulders" somewhere else, but I can't remember where/when. I, too, love pole beans. This year, among others, I renewed my seed for Childers Cutshort and Ruth Bible Pole Bean. I am missing Tennessee Cutshort, as I gave it a sabbatical, in order to make room for the renewals.

Thank you bon. I look forward to tapping into some of that knowledge!

Thanks John. As far as beans go, I guess you could say I'm into preservation. I like to grow old, heirloom varieties, preferably with a history. I usually grow a mix of pole beans, cowpeas, limas and runners. I've grown a few tepary beans as well, mainly to see if they would grow here in Va. Used to grow both bush and pole habit, but have focused on pole the last several years. Two back surgeries in the last 10 years have hampered bending over very much. That, and old age lol.

Thanks George. We certainly have crossed e-paths a time or two, probably on GardenWeb, albeit many years ago. I too am renewing seed, including one of my favorite cowpeas, Zongozotla Pintitos. Sound familiar lol? I think that was 2009 or 10. 9 or 10 year old seed, and 100% germination. This cowpea is a beast!

I am a bean fan too. I could probably eat green beans every night. Also, I am a big fan of lima's... this year I grew a 60' row of king of the garden and Dr. Martin. It is hard to beat the productivity of the pole limas. Bush Fordhook is a favorite of mine because of how fat the beans are, but is a back breaker to pick. I don't mind the last picking of the season though. That is when I pull the plant up and stand up straight then pick the limas right off the bush.
