Apparently the red cedars are currently pollinating. Do bees use that pollen? I'm taking extra allergy meds.

One thing I noticed upon moving to Texas several years ago is that I see bees all winter. I don’t mean every day of the winter because it is sometimes just too cold, but on warm days when I walk by particular areas where something is blooming, there are so many bees there that the buzzing is audible just as I approach the area. An example of that is the loquat tree in our backyard which blooms in December and January. Our Texas Cedars (Ashe Juniper, a cousin of Eastern Red Cedar) is definitely pollinating now (hence I stay inside much more than I would prefer at this time of year). I have never noticed the bees visiting it. Here’s a link to the question addressed by the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center. www.wildflower.org/expert/show.php?id=10006
