I plant a lot of Early Girl Tomatoes out here because hamburger joints and restaurants use mechanical tomato slicers that only accept a standardized size tomato. (about the size you see for sale in the grocery stores). I sell a lot of tomatoes in Summer and need that size fruit in order to be marketable to my restaurant customers. My Farmers' Market customers, however, seem to prefer, varieties like, German Johnson Pink, Prudence Purple, and Brandywine, although, I avoid Brandywines, because of the low production rate.
