There are certain things money can’t buy. Sometimes those things can be raised in your very own garden, even though it is impossible to find them in the grocery store, or, even, perhaps at the Farmers’ Market. That’s because they are too perishable for commercial transport or storage. The Old Israeli Melon is one of those crops. Guaranteed, you have never eaten a melon as good as this, purchased at the store. This one is fragile and over ripens quickly, but the flavor is absolutely amazing! If you want to enjoy certain fruits and vegetables as good as this, you simply have to grow them yourself. Then you can pick them and take them straight to the kitchen.
Green Country Seed Savers seeks to encourage and equip others to do this very thing. We have a very sociable group, both on the Internet and in our monthly physical meetings, here in Tahlequah. We talk about our favorite crops and varieties, as well as how to grow them in our locale. Many times, members bring seeds or plants to share with others in the meetings.
This month’s meeting will be Sunday, September 9 at 2:00 PM. We will be meeting in the fellowship hall of the Church of God 7th Day, 326 E Ward St Tahlequah, Oklahoma, which is near Northeastern University. Come on out, if you would like to participate. For more detailed directions respond to this post.
