George I received some Ralph's from Keith in the mail this afternoon. It doesn't resemble Ralph's Italian in any way, Ralph's seed is smaller without the darker stripes. Do you remember what your Ralph's looked like? I don't know how to post a picture here but will post one on GW if you care to have a look. I'm about to do a germination test, fingers crossed.

Here's the picture Annette. I got it from the Houz forum, where you posted it. One way to post pictures here is to use the "Add image to post" button, which comes up when you click on "reply." (You have to actually click on "reply" and not simply post a "quick reply," which doesn't provide a means to upload an image.) Here's the button:
You'll have to click on that second image in order to really see it. Sometime I need to do a post on how to use an image hosting website to post pictures. Using one, it's possible to post larger images. Houz no longer lets you do that.

Thanks George, I'm computer challenged at the best and I've always posted pictures by dragging from my desktop into..... I'm a monkey see monkey do. I have to have someone standing over my shoulder saying do this, do that, before the light bulb comes on LOL. It's very obvious from the picture they are not the same, Keith got this Ralph's from Tom Galucci in Connecticut. I'm going to give the Ralph's Italian from Victory seeds one more go using the method of waking up supposedly dead seeds just on the slight chance this will work.

Hope it works! By the way, I've read how to do that, but I have never used that method. Is there a link where I could go to brush up on it?

I don't know about a link, I have my photo album on my computer, when I want to post a picture I open up my photo album, drag a picture to the desk top and then drag into my message. On Houzz I usually use Houzz photo and proceed from there. Easy Garden, drag it into message and then I have an option of either full size or thumbnail. On Just not Tomatoes it's like the one here. I get my picture on my desktop and then work from there. Now, people, don't tell me there's an easier way to do it, I confuse easy. If it works don't fix it is my motto , Annette

I saw that! Unfortunately, I saw it on my phone, which isn't logged in to Gardenweb, and I don't remember my password. (I keep it in a password vault on my computer).
Those ARE the beans! That's exciting!

Update, the very last bean in my packet of "Ralph's Italian" bought from Victory Seeds back in 2012 has germinated. Now planted out, barricaded under a hot cap and surrounded with copper mesh, hopefully it will grow and produce a few pods.

Update... "Only the Lonely" my nick name for my single Ralph's Italian Heirloom gets it's own pole today. It has a couple of bites out of one of the first leaves but otherwise healthy and wants to start climbing, fingers crossed. I haven't heard how rdback's are doing.

One more time note to self, don't leave page to look something up...
rdback lost Ralph's to rabbits, "Only the Lonely" is hanging in, actually doing quite well, now, if we don't run out of time. The heat wave slowed this one down but it's still popping out a few flowers along with pods, some are actually starting to swell. "ONLY" is fro seed bought in 2013 but after doing some sluething Victory Seeds last growout was in 2009 so the seed was quite old when planted this year. Hubby took this pic this morning, this cluster is above the pole it was planted on it's about the 10 ft. level, it keeps growing, it's 16 ft' up a magnolia tree and it also branched and is winding though a wisteria on a pergola.
Hopefully things will go well and I'll be able to send some seed back to you George, but if nor I gave it a good try .
