Just a couple of pictures of projects I've completed this month. Rainy days make for slow days at the garden, so I had to find something else to do...
A few cutting boards. Two are Sycamore, two are Walnut & Maple.
My first attempt at making wooden serving spoons. Four are made from Walnut. The deep style serving spoon, nearest in the picture, is made from Padauk, which is tree that grows in Africa. All the serving spoons are natural color, no wood stain is ever used on food utensils...

The cutting boards and the spoons are all beautiful, Woodeye. Thanks for the sharing. I’m glad you’ve been getting rain for your garden, and I’m glad you can use those rainy days to make such fine handiwork.

Woodeye, those are beautiful. You're gonna love the way that old cherry carves. I've whittled pieces of it from time to time in the past, but not since I had that stroke back in '98. My gimpy left hand can't hang on to the wood, so my right hand can carve it anymore.

Thank you folks!
Looks like summer is returning, so I'll have more time to work out in the shop. I am in the process of installing a powerful exhaust fan in my shop to help alleviate heat and dust.
heavyhitterokra & macmex, I WILL be in Tahlequah to visit with you fine folks Saturday. Yay!👌

Well yesterday was a wonderful day for us! Woodeye showed up at our place around 9:30 am, having driven over 140 miles to reach us. We had a wonderful visit. Rather quickly Jerreth (my wife) got hold of him and whisked him away to the wood shop (her wood shop) to give some lessons. I, having little interest in wood working, contented myself with weeding and cutting grass nearby, so as to be on hand if needed. Jerreth glowed about the visit all day because she learned so much! We enjoyed a good meal with him and then I escorted him over to Ron's place (heavyhitterokra). I didn't stick around there as I had some things to take care of at home and knew that Ron and Woodeye would hit it off in a big way. Here's a photo I took of the two of them.
It is really a nice thing to hear of the friendships developed through this forum, much like I saw over on the Oklahoma Gardening forum before Houz took it over. In our conversation with Teddy he made reference to how special it has been to have regular communication with Chrysanthemum and her family.

Thank You, George.
Yes, yesterday was awesome! I had so much fun visiting with everybody. Each and every one of you made my day, I'll cherish the memories of July 15 of '23. OH, but there will be more times like this ahead!
I'd like to emphasize that the expression on my face in the photo is actually a grin. The smile mechanism in my ugly mug has degraded tremendously in the last few years. I do a pretty good job of being happy as can be at all times, but in the picture it looks like I just stepped on a nail. I checked this morning, there are no nails evident in the bottom of my feet.
I appreciate all the hospitality I received yesterday, it was an honor to meet George, Jerreth, and their daughter, Emily. Emily's wrist was stung by a wasp yesterday and it caused swelling in her wrist and hand, I hope she recovers nicely from that. Thank you all for everything you sent home with me, much appreciated! I was taken aback at the enthusiasm of Jerreth for woodworking, I hope that I can help her along as she learns the craft. She has a very nice shop and some cool machinery, it's only a matter of time before she is churning out projects. Deer roast, potatoes, and homemade bread. What a lunch that was!
Ron and Margaret followed suit, two wonderful people that I was honored to meet. I enjoyed the tour of everything, from the separate kitchen (very nice!), Ron's garden, and the tour of the river. The conversations never let up, it was so much fun. Thank you all for everything you sent home with me, I appreciate it tremendously. Margaret knows her way around a kitchen, no doubt about that. Fried chicken, okra, squash, gravy, corn on the cob. Wow!
Yes, I have corresponded with chrysanthemum for quite some time, she's a very special lady and has helped me through the bad times I have experienced in the last few months regarding the loss of my younger brother. I'm so thankful for her insights on so many subjects, make no mistake, chrysanthemum is a very intelligent person.
Frosty has been a good friend to lean on too, I always have a good time visiting her in Cushing. Here is another time to make no mistake, Frosty is a very intelligent person, and a LOT of fun to be around. I'll be visiting her before long. I'm pretty sure that she is aware of that, but I'll leave it up to her as to whether to consider that a promise, or consider it a warning. hehehe
In conclusion, I want to Thank each of you for such a great day yesterday, I'm truly blessed to know you all...

Teddy,
We were truly blessed by your visit here last Saturday. It has been 3 days and we're still glowing! Frosty once told me, "Teddy is a ray of sunshine just waiting for a place to sparkle." Boy, was she ever right about that! We thoroughly enjoyed your company.
That comment about your, "Just stepped on a nail" smile cracked me up. You're not a very good faker, Teddy, as everyone present could tell that you were beaming with joy that afternoon. Your personality spreads that joy to others like an ocean.
Meeting you for the first time was like meeting a lifelong friend. It feels like we've known you all of our lives. Thank you for that, Teddy. You are truly a blessing to others and a real gem of a person too. Just like Frosty, and George, you are welcome here anytime!

Frosty, you and Teddy really brightened things up around here this summer! Who'da thought people you never met before could have so much in common? It's really too bad we're all scattered across the State so far apart. Wouldn't it be a blast to do some gardening, canning, chicken plucking, fence fixing, and firewood chopping together?
It used to be that way around here, back when Grandma, Mom, and all my Aunts and Uncles were still living. We had some great times together, sharing chores and putting things up for winter. We all lived on the same hill back then. I sure do miss those days.
