I’ve had some pretty sick kids this week, but I’m hoping they’re mostly on the mend now. One thing that has been cute has been when they’re feeling up to it, they’ll head out to the garden to pick some fresh raspberries to eat. They tell me that the Vitamin C from the fresh fruit and the Vitamin D from the sun will help their immune systems. I think they’re right.

I think it was Friday that my mom and I picked a bunch of peppers. We had the possibility of some severe weather, but storms never really materialized for us. Nevertheless, I had to find space for the peppers since the tomatoes were in the available space in the kitchen. This is a little bookshelf in the dining room that became the pepper shelf. Today my mom and I worked together to make a large dish of stuffed peppers. We used twelve bell peppers, and we also sneaked fourteen or fifteen jalapeños in to the pan. We stuffed them with a mixture of ground beef and rice seasoned with onion, garlic, and more jalapeños. We topped that with some tomato sauce that my mom had cooked this morning and baked them covered in foil for quite some time. At the end I sprinkled some shredded cheese on top. They were well received by the family at supper tonight.

chrysanthemum, Outstanding job by you and your mom, the peppers are beautiful and I would wager that they taste just as good as they look...

Thanks, Heavyhitterokra. I don’t think my stories compare with the yarns you spin at time for us here, but I just thought some things were fun to share.

Thanks, Woodeye. My little guy went bike riding today on some paths that a neighbor has made in his woods, and that takes us over the top of the big hill we live on and lets us see the mountains. The neighbors had some outstanding drifts of daffodils at the edge of their back yard and in their woods, so I took a couple shots of those. The last picture is a big farm that’s across the street from the edge of the neighbors’ property, and my kids had told me when we’d been in the car on Tuesday that there were daffodils dotted all over the hill. My son and I went to look more closely, but I couldn’t zoom in enough to get a good photo of them. It was still a very beautiful view of the Blue Ridge, though.

Thanks for the pictures, chrysanthemum. You have definitely caused me to want more daffodils here on this place. I'd love to replace all the red cedar trees in my pasture with clumps of flowers like the last picture. If I was still making jigsaw puzzles, all 3 pictures would make great jigsaw puzzles.
