Bon, your strawberry tales make my heart sore with gladness to hear of your family enjoying them so much! Thanks, for posting that, it was uplifting to read and brought back great memories of similar life events as a child.
We, as a family unit over the decades have enjoyed several seasons of making strawberry freezer jam together. Those will be fond memories for your family in years to come. Every time I'm in the kitchen doing things like that, it brings back memories of those who have passed on. My mom, my grandma, my aunts, all come to revisit in the form of great memories made in grandma's kitchen. Your family is so blessed.

I got a giggle out of myself yesterday when I thought about it. It's just strawberries and sugar. Imagine that, I thought.
For the record, these were grown in 3 year old leaf mold. I added a sprinkling of compost in late winter.
It's their third season. We gotta lift and move them this fall. I can see some disease in the patch.
